Sharings After a Weekend Out Of Army

Well, i could be sharing about army here. But i dont see the value in sharing it with the little time i have this weekend. I'm here to share about some thoughts this weekend that's refreshing for me. Don't know who'll read it or who will ACTUALLY be encouraged by it, but i'll post anyway. I have no time so sorry if it seems rush.

This weekend has been truly refreshing since its been 17 days since ive been thinking alot abt God's word. Surely QT has been few and fare between this 17 days, plus it didnt cause me to think anyway much abt things relating to faith. I think 've been sharing, but not been growing. Thank God for yf and CE class that made think alot more deeper about God's word again, and applying it to my life. Just a few thoughts and things learned, so that i won't forget myself anyway.

During both those act, i learned about doing your best for God, and what is success. As a Singaporean, what do you think success is defined as? Status? Money? The list is long and debatable, but it goes along that line. As a christian, we ARE JUST supposed to DO YOUR BEST! Kenn also said, don't use words like i need to do my best for God thus i don't go to church- using such an excuse to put your priorities in something else like studies instead of God. This eg is clear, but something i really wanted to share today is, an example like, using DOING YOUR BEST AS AN EXCUSE TO STUDY HARDER TO SECURE A BETTER FUTURE FOR YOURSELF! Thats the hidden motive i get from many ppl. The "higher priority" ultimately becomes self again. I just wanted to share that, lets often question our inner motives. Am i truly doing this for God, to glorify Him, or am using it as an excuse to serve yourself?

Kenn also shared about what is our purpose here on earth, the answer i was seeking during yf. I totally forgotten about this answer. You know as creation, there is a set purpose for us. Like a hp is to make phonecalls. If it can't, it is useless and should be destroyed right? So as humans, as christians, we must be clear of the purpose the Creator has for us. Kenn said this very well, if our purpose on earth is to worship Him, we should do it in heaven, cause worship here is imperfect. If its service, it should be in heaven. So what is our purpose? The general ans everyone can give is to glorify Him in everything we do. Thats true. But what does this mean? One thing kenn hit the nail i think for me is, MISSIONS! Mission is not meant to be a ministry in church like refreshment, PA, ushering. MISSIONS IS THE MISSION AND THE WHOLE PURPOSE OF THE CHURCH! And it is supposed to be for our lives to be too. And that is simply, the mission statement for yfc. To evangelize, and to equip others to evangelize. Surely the church plays the role of helping its members to grow in knowledge and also supporting their needs. But ultimately, its growing in knowledge for missions. Oh sorry theres still the purpose of growing in deeper r/s with Him. But yea missions is a key purpose often forgotten and neglected.

Theres also another purpose that God has for us, and that is the two greatest commandments. Go think abt it. :-p

I also learned during yf about what does it mean doing your best- and the ans is your all. GIVING YOUR ALL!!! Something i've not been doing.

Theres a qn during during yf that goes, why does ppl become upset or skeptical when ppl question their purpose for doing something? The ans is cause we question their motives, and nobody likes it. So my challenge for others and self is, question our motives for doing things, be teachable, esp when ppl question our motives. Live on the right purpose, Christians!

Something i also wanna do is, join my frens prayer grp every morning at 445. I think i need it to keep me close to God in army. I can't describe how much it encourages me to continually study his word every day too. And an opportunity to worship him in army! (my fren has a guitar! Woohoo!)

Sorry for the caps and all.

Hopefully i didnt forget and missed out anything from what i've learned the past 2 days!

Cya ppl in a few days time!

Wow. The world seems to have changed alot the past 2 weeks- maybe cause downtown east is like a whole new place. I guess a few certain other things also. Well one of them is my sis is joining yf exco. Lol.

I really wish my feelings would change with the way ppl changes. But i guess, it aint that easy. The more i read of it, the more that the world agrees with me.

But then, its the world.

Army is a horrible place, but i love the friends i make there! Ministry there has been great. 2 shared, 2 encouraged to start going to church again.

Yea things change. Just like, ok, say hi rachel!!! (yes rachel you're THAT rachel) :-p My new rubbish bin. :-p

Sorry this is short, no time.

NS and goodbye!

Im going to serve the nation tmr! It will be a great time for me to train up discipline, and alot of other things. I guess pray for me to be a testimony and an encouragement to others would be good!

Some things gotta go- and ive decided that this blog is not very useful for me these days, plus army. I am switching to another blog, where i can share and write freely, which is something i really wanna do, cause i have alot of reservations writing here. Still, i wont totally stop blogging here. This is still a public blog where i update my friends. But however, I just want some personal writing space.

Some photos for memories before i go to the army!

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle see His banners go!

Refrain
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

At the sign of triumph Satan’s host doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
Brothers lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.

Refrain
Like a mighty army moves the church of God;
Brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod.
We are not divided, all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.

Refrain
What the saints established that I hold for true.
What the saints believèd, that I believe too.
Long as earth endureth, men the faith will hold,
Kingdoms, nations, empires, in destruction rolled.

Refrain
Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,
But the church of Jesus constant will remain.
Gates of hell can never gainst that church prevail;
We have Christ’s own promise, and that cannot fail.

Refrain
Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song.
Glory, laud and honor unto Christ the King,
This through countless ages men and angels sing.

Refrain
